Psychotherapy Online and In Person

I was once a client too

Spending many years as someone in therapy myself, I felt shame in reaching out for support. I was taught to hide my emotions and to not show vulnerability. I learned that shame is something I felt must remain hidden but left unaddressed, it led to feelings of isolation and self-criticism.

In finding a therapist that I trusted, I learned that therapy can be a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore the roots of shame and work through the emotional struggles that come with it. Witnessing the healing, and life changing advantages of therapy was how my passion for becoming a therapist began.

Celebrating Neurodiversity

Before becoming a psychotherapist, I spent much of my career working at centres focusing on supporting the neurodivergent community. In working closely with autistic adults and their families, I became quickly aware of the limited amount of mental health supports available that take a non-pathologizing and neuro-affirming stance to empowering autistic voices.

It became my goal to create an inclusive psychotherapy practice that focuses on supporting neurodivergent individuals to prioritize self-exploration, growth and well-being.

Understanding
Trauma

It is important to approach working with trauma from a place of safety, collaboration, and compassion. We will take our time to figure out how we want to include trauma in our therapy sessions, and come up with a plan of how we can support ourselves as we explore together.

As trauma origins in the body, it is key to work with trauma from a place of care and curiosity for our somatic experiences. We will work to unpack the manifestations of trauma that live in the body and explore what support may be missing.

Clinical Experience & Training

I am a graduate of the five-year training program in Gestalt Psychotherapy at the Gestalt Institute of Toronto, and I have a BA in Sociology from the University of Toronto. I am a Registered Psychotherapist and in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.

I work with people experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, self harm, relationship challenges, family conflict, work stress and burnout. I am passionate about supporting those looking to explore autism and neurodivergence, and those looking to heal from past trauma.

Psychotherapy Modalities

My approach to therapy is based in Gestalt modalities, which is a blend of Experiential, Somatic and Relational Psychotherapy. I work to emphasize the interconnectedness of the mind and body, and observe psychological difficulties (like anxiety, depression, or trauma) from an embodied awareness of the present moment.

I lean on principles of Gestalt Psychotherapy that aim to meet clients where they are from a place of curiosity, rather than to change them.
